Do you have old photos you need copied and/or restored? Not only do family members enjoy getting printed or digital copies of keep-sake pictures, but spreading copies around the country is the best way to protect against fire, hurricane or other loss. This was a 45 year old, 14 x 20 tinted print on a canvas board ... not something that fits in your average scanner. It only had a couple gouges which were easy to fix, so the cost was low and now her grandchildren have copies ... This was a similar large tinted print, but as you see in the close-up of the original below it, the tinting had deteriorated over the years and detracted from the image ... The original of the image below was wallet size print (less than 2 x 3) made in a portrait studio in France over 100 years ago. They wanted copies to give to the great grandchildren of the woman pictured ... as it turned out I was able to make 8 x 10 prints which came out quite nice. (Don't expect that I can always increase the size that much, it depends on the quality of the original.) In the original you can see all the marks, scratches and damage on the right side of her face ... And here is the same area after a little clean-up ... Here is the same woman sitting on a cart in Ireland a hundred years ago. In this case, after cleaning up the image, I used a sepia tint which you see on many old prints. Here's a close-up of the original, showing the pits and scratches ... |
